My kid thinks the gummy vitamins are candy... help!
First time posting here, but I'm at my wit's end. My 6-year-old son thinks the multivitamin gummies are just candy. He's been sneaking them from the pantry. Last night, I caught him with the bottle under his bed. I've tried explaining, but he just says 'but they're gummies, daddy!' Any tips on how to get him to understand?
Oh, I feel you! My little one went through a phase like that. What worked for us was making a ritual out of it - like a 'special treat' that we take together every morning after brushing teeth. I also let her pick out a fun vitamin case. Sometimes making it part of the routine helps them see it as a daily thing, not a candy. Also, maybe keep them in a high cabinet or a lockbox if he's really persistent. My cousin had to do that until her kid outgrew it.
Haha, sorry but this is too funny. When I was a kid, I did the same thing. My mom had to hide them. But maybe you can turn it into a lesson about moderation? Like, 'gummies are for growing strong, not for snacks.' Also, check the label - some brands are more candy-like than others. I've seen some with less sugar, maybe that helps?
Thanks for the replies! The routine idea sounds good - we'll try that. And yeah, I should probably get a lockbox. My wife is already worried about iron overdose, so I need to nip this in the bud. Appreciate the suggestions!
