Taking Green Gummies on a Trip? Melt Risk & TSA?
Hey everyone! I'm heading out on a 2-week trip: plane to Denver, then road trip to some national parks and a few hikes. I love my Super Green Gummies for daily energy and greens, but I'm worried about them melting in my luggage, especially during the road trip and hikes. Also, any issues with TSA? They're gummies, so I'm guessing fine, but just want to be sure. Anyone got experience traveling with these? Thanks!
Yo TravelBug! I've taken mine on a few flights and road trips. TSA is no sweat – they're just gummies, not liquids or gels, so keep them in your carry-on and you're good. I've even flown with them in my personal bag, no questions. For melting: they do get soft if it's hot, but they don't turn into a puddle. I suggest keeping them in a cooler bag with an ice pack if you're driving, but for hiking, just don't leave them in direct sun. I use a small insulated pouch, works great. Safe travels!
I second what Quantum said! On my last road trip through the desert, I left my gummies in the car and they got super squishy, kinda stuck together. Still edible, but messy. Now I always keep them in a mini cooler with a frozen water bottle. For plane, my carry-on is always fine. Also, pro tip: if they do get squishy, pop them in the fridge for a bit to firm up. Works like a charm!
Adding a bit of research librarian knowledge here: The TSA website explicitly says solid food items are allowed, and gummies fall under that. So no worries there. For storage, the ideal temp is below 77°F (25°C). Above that they soften. If you're hiking, keep them in a leak-proof container and maybe a ziplock with a paper towel to absorb any sweat. Also, I've read that humidity can make them sticky, so keep them sealed. Have a blast on your trip!
