Is a gummy probiotic just candy with benefits?

Okay, am I the only one side-eyeing these gummy supplements? I was looking at OLLY Probiotic + Prebiotic Gummies (peach, 30 count), and they have like 2g of sugar per gummy. I mean, I get it, they want to make it taste good, but it feels like we're just eating candy with a side of bacteria. Back in my day, we took our vitamins with a glass of water and grimaced. What happened to just taking a pill? It seems like everything is 'gummyfied' now, and I'm not sure it's for the better. Am I overreacting, or is this a legitimate concern?

Honestly, I used to think the same, but I've come around. Are the 2g of sugar a big deal? For me, it's the convenience. I can't swallow pills to save my life – I choke on them, lol. Gummies are a game-changer. And if it takes a little sugar to get me to actually remember to take my probiotics, then so be it. Plus, some of them use organic stuff or stevia. Not all are loaded. I've been using these for a month, and my digestion has never been better. It's all about finding what works for you.

I'm on the fence too, Ivy. I get the 'candy' worry. But I think the key is moderation. A gummy a day isn't going to wreck your diet if the rest is clean. I do wish they'd cut the sugar, though. Maybe use xylitol or erythritol? I've seen some brands do that. For me, it's about mindfulness. I take my gummy, acknowledge it's not a treat, and move on. It's like a little ritual. But I totally get where you're coming from – it's hard to see them as medicine.
